Surrounded by team members who share their intellectual curiosity and drive, consulting staff tackle the big strategy questions weighing on the minds of C-suite level executives in aerospace, defense, and technology: What new market should we enter? Should we acquire this company? What’s our next large investment? How can we prepare for changing customer demands? What innovative technology do we need to create in future products? How can we position ourselves better against competitors?
To equip consulting staff with the skills and resources to take on strategy projects for high-level management at Fortune 500 companies, Avascent provides ongoing training and mentorship through a built in support system of buddies, advisors, trainers, and managers. From the initial two-week Basic Training and Onboarding program which includes 20+ classes delivered by internal experts to the semi-annual advisor career review to one-on-one coaching on every project, collaborative colleagues ensure a culture of learning and development for team members at every level.
Avascent’s flat organizational structure and endless opportunities for everyone to get involved create a culture full of colleagues who genuinely enjoy spending time together both inside and outside the office. Situated in the heart of bustling downtown DC just a few blocks north of the White House, the Avascent Headquarters boasts a central location easily accessible from all Metro lines and a 12th floor company cafe with a view of the Washington Monument. With thriving scenes for art, music, history, culture, food, and sports, DC is a city with much more to offer beyond political gridlock. See outdoor movies and jazz in the garden in summer, visit historical sites and go hiking among the fall foliage, attend the White House Christmas tree lighting in winter, and enjoy the scenic Cherry Blossom Festival in spring – it’s all here in the nation’s capital. Beyond the headquarters, offices in Europe and Canada provide valuable insight for European and Canadian defense, aerospace, and technology companies from locations in the heart of global cities.
Avascent brings on fresh talent every year, including a number of recent graduates from some of the most reputable universities in the country. Of the 1,000+ candidates reviewed each year, Avascent hires the top 1-2% of those who apply. A thorough, consistent interview process allows current consulting staff to evaluate how candidates’ backgrounds, interests, and capabilities align with the firm. Typically, candidates submit applications in September to be considered for positions starting the following year. From then on, applications are accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. The recruitment process includes submitting an application, completing one resume-based interview and one case interview in the first round, and one final round of interviews with managers and directors at the DC office.
